Medical Coder I, Part-Time

This is a part-time role; less than 20 hours per week.
This position is not benefit-eligible.

Role Overview: Under the direction of the Managing Director, the Medical Coder I performs professional fee (profee) medical coding of multi-specialty encounters utilizing CPT®, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS codes, and appropriate modifiers. The Medical Coder I may also perform Risk Adjustment coding utilizing ICD-10-CM and applicable guidelines. The Medical Coder I will create educational content for clients and social media purposes. Lastly, the Medical Coder I will assist with administrative tasks, including client reports and project management.
What is expected of the ideal candidate:
Mastery of ICD-10-CM, CPT®, and HCPCS coding protocols.
Proficiency in the 2023 Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding guidelines.
Ability to access various Electronic Health Records (EHRs) for record review.
Proficiency with MacOS (Apple) operating system, as an Apple desktop computer will be provided.

Education and Experience:
Certified Professional Coder, Apprentice (CPC-A), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent, required.
Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) preferred.
Professional fee (profee) medical coding proficiency typically achieved through a nationally recognized certification preparation course.
Professional proficiency in medical terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) coding, and International Classification of Disease (ICD) coding.
Professional proficiency in technology and software including Microsoft Office, Electronic Health Records (EHRs), and MacOS (Apple) computers.

Work Environment: This is a remote position. You will be provided with equipment which must be utilized at all times to perform your work tasks due to HIPAA requirements. Your at-home workspace should be free of distractions and allow you to maintain the privacy of sensitive data. Shared office spaces are not allowed. Unsecured, shared internet connections are not allowed.
